5-day trekking itinerary in the Moroccan desert

 Day 1: Departure for the desert gates - M'Hamid

Early departure from Marrakech, Agadir or Ouarzazateon board a comfortable private vehicle. Along the way, a cultural break is in order: a visit to the famous Ksar of Aït Ben Haddoua UNESCO-listed architectural gem in the Atlas Mountains. Late afternoon arrival in M'Hamid El Ghizlanelast village before the dunes. Night in comfortable fixed bivouac or with local people, in the heart of the palm grove.


Day 2: First step into the Sahara - to the Sidi Naji dunes

Start of the walking tour from M'Hamid. Follow the dry bed of theOued Drâawinding through palm trees and tamarisks. Lunch break at Ras Nkhal then on to the majestic dunes of Sidi Najia mysterious and spiritual desert sanctuary. Installation of the nomadic bivouacmagical sunset, dinner and a night under the stars.


Day 3: Towards the singing dunes of Erg Ez-Zahar

Wake up at sunrise, assemble the camel caravan, and walk through the large expanses of sand. After a lunch break in the shade of a tamarisk tree, you return to the Erg Ez-ZaharAlso known as the singing dunes. Overnight in a wild bivouac in one of the most beautiful isolated and intact of the Sahara.


 Day 4: Crossing to Erg Bourabara

Early in the morning, continue the trek towards Lhdibate. The desert changes its face : plateaus of regs, tamarisk and golden sand one after the other. Lunch break at Etonrthen on to Erg Bourabaranear a well. Peaceful evening in the tent after a day rich in walking and discoveries.


 Day 5: Return to M'Hamid and transfer

Last walk in the early morning Lbouralong theOued Drâa. You reach M'Hamid in the morning. Transfer back to Ouarzazate, Marrakech or Agadircrossing the lunar landscapes in southern Morocco.

We recommend a soft bag with only the essentials. Dromedaries carry bivouac equipment and your personal belongings.

7. How many hours of walking per day?

Around 4 to 5 hours walking a day, at a moderate pace, often in the shade of tamarisk trees to avoid the heat.

8. Is it possible to return to Marrakech or Agadir at a later date?

Yes, you can extend your stay with an extra night at the fixed bivouac, or opt for a slower return via the Drâa Valley.

9. Can children participate?

Yes, from age 7, if the child is used to walking for several hours and is accompanied by a parent. Private trek recommended for families.

10. Is it possible to arrive without flying?
